NIKE: A New Chapter

The right horse, for the right person at the right time.
This is how it should be.
It has always been out goal to facilitate Nike's development has a good equine citizen and then to find her the right human and the right time.

Out of the blue we got a call about Nike.

A friend of a friend contacted us and wanted to know about our adopted mustang mare, Nike.
We gave her as much information, the good, the bad, the ugly, and all of our experiences with how her training had progressed up to this point...everything. We sent over this blog (yes, all of it) and asked to review it before making an appointment to meet Nike. We did not want to waste anyone's time.

The lady still wanted to meet her (grin).
So we met up at the local arena and let Nike show off.
She did really well. A little lazy at first but soon got into the groove. She was attentive, smooth and responsive. She was friendly and curious.
Her groundwork and under saddle work was really good even with the breaks we have had in training due to LIFE (tm). She performed well for the new person even if the accent of the person's language was a tad confusing at first.
As visits go we were happy for the experience and were proud of our little girl.
We agreed that the lady would think about it. Seems like a wise thing to do.

A couple of days later we got a call.
This person was STILL interested in Nike and was willing to pay our asking price.
We went out to the potential new home and scoped it out. Really nice place. One other horse (a mare) and lots of land to play on. They are also pretty local too so we can be on hand if the family has any questions or needs help. We discussed everything again just to be sure and decided that this would be a good home for Nike with the caveat that they would be part of the Brumbies and maintain her training.

So we delivered Nike to her new digs today. After a lesson on the round and under saddle it was time to let Nike check out her new home. She explored and settled in pretty quickly. At home Ronan and Argent were less than happy as their little sister was gone (the last two rescues we fostered also went to the facility last week so now they are REALLY confused).

We were very blessed to be part of her journey and we learned a lot from her. It will be interesting to see how her development grows in the season ahead. We know we will see her every month at Brumbies practices and events. We also know that this family really loves this cute mare with the big heart and great mind! They have many miles and many grand adventures ahead of them!

If you have been a fan of Nike we want to say THANK YOU for reading this blog. We hope to find another great "project horse" and help them find their potential as we improve our horsemanship skills. Each horse is unique and each requires their human to have a good tool box and support network. We learn from each horse and each experience. That is the reward for all the hard work.

Stay tuned! We will have more Adventures in Horsemanship soon!
